Tommy, he's a nice guy, super friendly, wants to be in your pocket and ready for his own human to love him! Tommy last raced in September of 2021, he was retired sound. His owner was very fond of him and asked New Stride to retrain him for his next best life. Tommy stands nicely for the vet, farrier, and at the mounting block. We are currently riding him in the arena at walk trot and canter. Poles and small jumps have been introduced, which Tommy takes in stride. Tommy doesn't mind other horses hacking or jumping while he's being ridden. He's also fine with horses entering or exiting the arena during his training sessions. This summer, Tommy has learned to relax and he's happy to stand and watch other horses at work around him. He's learning to cross tie, as well as ground tie while being groomed. Under saddle, Tommy is obedient but not yet super brave. He would suit someone with patience, time and  previous success in retraining OTTBs as he is lovely and will blossom with the right person. Tommy would love to live somewhere with pasture turn out with friends, be introduced to trail rides, a bit of jumping and flat/dressage work. Before he came to New Stride he was turned out in pasture with a small herd of young Thoroughbred geldings.
