Swordy is a lovely gelding, friendly, slightly reserved until he gets to know you and quite 'light' to handle. Swordy was well travelled in his racing days, starting out in New York State. He has 38 starts, and came in the first 3 a whopping 21 times. Last year Swordy's owner noticed he wasn't as interested in racing anymore and donated him to New Stride so we could retrain him and find him a great 'post track' life with a new loving owner. Swordy was and still is a barn favourite. He's a bit of a clown at times and also very cuddly, he really laps up attention! We are currently taking our time working with him to introduce his new 'slower paced' life. Swordy knows the old racing routine and becomes quite animated when under tack. He has three lovely gaits. A 'swinging' walk, smooth trot and a nice forward canter. Currently Swordy is lunged and trotted over poles, learning new ground work and is ridden almost daily. He's not quite ready for 'meet, greet and rides' yet.
