Zeus is super sweet, always busy, but loves attention and grooming. He’s a goofy character, acting younger than his age. Zeus had 24 starts. As time passed, his owners saw his heart wasn’t in it, they approached New Stride and donated him to us. Zeus has had time to relax and settle in to his new surroundings. We are giving him time to learn the new training routine, by doing regular ground work and rides. Zeus is learning; to go to the right, move his shoulders and haunches away from pressure, walk a bit slower, stop and hang out, park at the mounting block, ground tie, and carry different tack. In the indoor arena, Zeus stands quietly at the mounting block and is learning to walk and trot off the leg. He walks and trots nicely over single poles and has quickly figured out how to trot over three trot poles in a row. Zeus doesn’t mind horses being ridden in the arena during his training sessions. He’s also not concerened about horses coming and going while he’s being ridden or worked on the ground. Zeus is learning to ‘hang out’ when horses are being jumped during his work sessions. Currently, we’ve added walks around the farm to introduce the new places and objects in his world. He’s learning to stop, look, and sniff new objects or animals in his surroundings. He’s a fidgity guy, but good for the farrier and vet. Zeus quite good at ground tying in the barn now, while being groomed and tacked. He opens his mouth for the bit and also cross ties under supervision. Zeus will need a patient, energetic, dedicated, experienced human with a sense of humor and a flexible agenda. He would do well with ample turn out (eventually with friends to play with) and someone who will work with him consistently. He’s a fun guy to work with and will make a great horse for his special human!
