Smarty is quite young and energetic but she is clever and has shown us her energy can be channeled positively. She likes to do the right thing and is learning about the new routine outside of her racing training. She came to New Stride as she was too slow to be a racehorse. Her ground manners and work in the round pen are very good now. She is friendly, a bit cheeky and very athletic. With a patient owner willing to take the time to take her step by step she could go on to be a successful competition horse. In the arena Smarty is ridden at walk, trot, canter and improving with every ride.. She is understanding the beginning stages of yielding off the leg too.She's quite happy to be ridden on outings around the farm in company of a stablemate. In the round pen we have added ground poles which she's accepted easily. Thanks to our farrier's patience, Smarty stands well for the farrier now.
