Buckwheat is a sweetheart, he whinnies to us when out in the paddock and we call his name. He loves attention, treats, rolling in the soft ground, more than one person grooming him, going out for a hand graze, and just being the center of attention. Buckwheat has been in our re-training program and we are teaching him what he needs to know for his post racing life. Buckwheat stands pretty well ground tied in the barn for grooming and tacking up, he’s also getting comfortable in the cross ties. He’s happy to learn, has been quite relaxed, and seems to accept his new adventures. Buckwheat is a ‘people’ horse, he looks forward to his sessions with us. In short, he’s fun to work with and progressing nicely. He is learning the ground work we are teaching, well. We have found though, that he will not be a horse for riding as his back is very uncomfortable when being ridden. Buckwheat would love a home where he has lots of room for turn out during the day, and preferably a stall or shelter at night. An introduction to, but a slow integration with ‘friends’ would suit him well. He tells us he doesn’t love being turned out in the rain, and would like a raincoat and shelter when it rains. He is availble for ‘meet, and greet, to potential adopters familiar with OTTBs.
