Shelly came to New Stride straight from the track. She is very people friendly and has settled into her new life with new people nicely. She is very clever and is learning the new routine. We are working on ground work with her, introducing her to the new environment. She is progressing well. Shelly loves attention, grooming and ground ties quite well now. She’s much more paitient than when she came, but ready for action at a moment’s notice. Shelly stands quite nicely for bathing and the farrier. She stands quietly for mounting at the mounting block. Shelly walks and trots quietly on a mid size circle on the lunge, and stands relaxed. Shelly has learned to trot over poles while on the lunge. Under saddle Shelly responds to; increase and decrease her walk and trot speed, halt, walk to trot transition cues, direct and indirect rein steering, all while on a light soft rein contact. She’s often ridden in the arena while other horses work and jump around us. Shelly has a good mind, lots of character and is a confident type. She does have a tendancy to want to take charge. Shelly has some limitations and won’t make a jumping prospect. She will need someone who has experience with Off Track Thoroughbreds and will make an amazing partner for that lucky person!
